Route 40 is a sea route in southwestern Johto, connecting Olivine City and Route 41.
This route consists of a small amount of land that is dwarfed in proportion by the surrounding ocean. All that a Trainer must do is head south, towards the Whirl Islands, defeating a few Trainers along the way. The Pokémon selection in this route is equally bland, comprising only of the most commonly appearing sea route Pokémon: Tentacool and Tentacruel.
Monica appears on the beach on Mondays and gives a Sharp Beak to the Trainer the first time he or she talks to her, and an Alert Ribbon the second time and all times after.
